Over the long memorial day weekend, someone managed to get into my Paypal account and initiate a money transfer between my account and my bank. I have to admit that I don't know how this could happen. I got the email alerts stating that a new email address had been added to my account, and another that said a funds transfer had been initiated. I decided to get in touch both by Paypal and my bank.

Paypal was great about the handling the problem, though they didn't offer any advice on what to do after filing a report. So I went to the bank and submitted some paperwork on the unauthorized transfer. They told me to transfer the money back to avoid any overdraft charges. By this time, Paypal had put a limit on my account which required me to wait for a piece of snail mail with a pin number in order to unlock it back again. When I finally got back in, I noticed the account balance had gone back down again. Luckily, it was the bank that notified Paypal of the issue and they managed to reverse the money transfer.

The very next thing that I'm doing on my Paypal account is to get their new "free" $5 token device to put more security features on my account so that nobody can get unauthorized access. This whole thing got me worried for a few days until it was resolved, so I definitely don't want to go through this ever again.
